Nasionale Minimum Loon

National Minimum Wage

Commission. Comments on this Bill must be submitted by 20 Junie 2018. The ACVV has again resubmitted a comprehensive presentation to the Selected Economic and Business Development Committee as part of NACOSS (National Coalition of Service Providers) and Lisa Vetten of Shukumisa Coalition / Wits City Institute and will meet with this important committee on 20 June 2018. In short: The principle of minimum wages is strongly supported, but the drastic effect of the consequences of the minimum wage in the NPO social welfare sector necessitates understanding and accommodation in this Bill. Low wages in the sector are intrinsically linked to the low levels of subsidy, which is not addressed in the Bill. Furthermore, the welfare sector should also be represented on the proposed Minimum Wage Commission.
